Who We Are
Jim Dalzell | Founder
Jim Dalzell is the founder of the Dalzell Group, an all-family real estate team that has been representing buyers and sellers across San Diego County since 1992.
Jim has been a perennial Top 1% Producer amongst San Diego realtors throughout his career. A recipient of the Legend Award for his outstanding sales success he is a well-respected leader within the San Diego broker community. Jim runs the Dalzell Group’s Luxury Homes Division, with notable sales including The Preakness Estate which sold for $17,775,000 in 2002.
Prior to moving to San Diego in 1987 Jim owned a large construction company in South Africa, which has provided his client’s with invaluable experience related to building standard and practices. Jim and his wife Jo have live in La Costa and are blessed to have three grown children and nine grandchildren all living in San Diego.

Ryan Dalzell spearheads the sales, marketing and investor relations for the Dalzell Group. Since 2004 Ryan has been counted on by his buyers and investors to source and capitalize on both local and out-of-state investment opportunities. The team has a proven track record of development and rental property projects that have seen double digit annual growth since 2009. He also takes the lead with the Dalzell Group’s luxury listing program to help sellers maximize the value in their home and position it for the market in the best light possible. For the Dalzell Group’s active marketing program, Ryan coordinates a robust array of sales strategies to put the spotlight on clients’ properties for maximum exposure. Ryan has been quoted by MSN, Fox News, Apartment Therapy and other news outlets and is regularly featured as an expert on real estate trends in the San Diego market.
Ryan grew up in South Africa and moved with the rest of the family to San Diego in 1987 where he attended Torrey Pines High School and then went on to graduate with honors from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo. He is known to go on many fun adventures, near and far, with his wife and three children. Ryan enjoys time with clients socially with annual golf and special events. He’s always active and enjoys swimming; running, having completed the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon three times. He also has a passion for flying and is a licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor.

Kevin Dalzell leads the DG Design & Build division of the Dalzell Group. With over 20 years experience, he has built an incredible reputation as a builder and designer of quality craftsmanship, modern designs and integrity shown with each and every project. He is responsible for acquiring properties, as well as overseeing the permitting, renovation and construction phases of development. With more than 25 custom homes completed in neighborhoods spanning Rancho Santa Fe, Encinitas, Olivenhain, Solana Beach and Carlsbad, Kevin has proven himself as a solid go-to builder and real estate agent who can help clients create the home of their dreams. His intimate knowledge of the local markets is a major asset to the Dalzell Group’s clients and allows him to aggressively negotiate on their behalf.
Kevin’s background as a professional rugby player in Europe affords him a lens of commitment, teamwork and unwavering dedication. During his time abroad, he represented the United States in two Rugby World Cups. When he’s not working Kevin likes to take full advantage of the Southern California lifestyle – surfing, biking and hiking around North County. He and his wife Nina live in Encinitas with their three children.

With a background in fashion, Nina brings to the team a unique eye for design and style that has become the calling card of Dalzell Design & Build. Nina is able to perfectly combine the latest design trends with sensible, family life functionality into an esthetic that has created a following of fans who eagerly await the latest Dalzell Group creation. The interior design process allows Nina to coordinate with our trusted team of tile, flooring, plumbing, lighting and cabinetry professionals to arrive at a final design that accentuates the lifestyle of every property we build – from coastal contemporary cottages to modern mountain retreats.
Nina and Kevin have remodeled and built their own homes and have the expertise to see a project from ground-up concept to dream home reality.
